Recap:
Foulke started the game and if he throws another pitch in Oakland I'd be pissed but
not really surprised. He gave up 3 in the first on back to back homers (a two run
and solo variety). He "rebounded" in the second, tossing a 1-2-3 inning. Knox
relieved Foulke and struggled also, allowing 3 earned runs on 6 hits, with 2
strikeouts and a walkd in 5 innings. Gray thew two scoreless innings and got the
win as the Cats won 7-6, with the winning run scoring in the 9th.
.
Conrad got the scoring going in the first hitting a 3 run homer in the first, his
23rd of the season. It's a shame he can't transfer that talent to the next level.

Recap:
Webb started the game and got rocked and the L as the Hounds lost 9-4 to NW Arkansas.
He didn't pitch particularly well but was also betrayed by the defense behind him.
Only able to go 4.2 IP he gave up 7 hits, 6 runs, 3 earned striking out 3 and walking 2.
Disaster pretty much hit in the 5th. The lead off batter reaches on a single to
third. Next batter pops out to Cardenas (yes that Cardenas, he was promoted to AA). Next batter single to right.
Next batter singles to center scoring one and advancing the runner to third. Next
batter reaches on a fielding error by Doolittle, runner scores, runner advances to
third. Next batter out FC 4-6, runner on third scores, but reaches first on a
throwing error by Cardenas. Bailey replaces Webb and gets a ground out to end the
innings.
.
Herrera hit his 4th homerun. A solo shot in the 1st.
.
Hounds committed 3 errors all on the infield: Affronti, Doolittle and Cardenas.

Recap:
Godfrey pitched fairly well outside of a hiccup in the 6th. In this case the hiccup
= 3 runs. Down 1-zip the inning started, as these things often do, with the lead off
runner getting abroad, this time via a HBP. The next batter sacrifices him to second.
This is followed by a run scoring double. And this is followed by a homer. Lead
gone, a lead the Nuts would not relinquish as the Ports fell 6-2. Henry Rodgriguez
relieved Godfrey, and now pitching out of the bullpen, struggles continued. He gave
up 3 runs, 2 earned in 2 IP with no walks and 4 strikeouts. He's still such an
intriguing prospect... you just hope at some point it all starts to click for him.
.
Donaldson and Spencer continue to hit the cover off the ball both still clocking in
BA's of over .400. Valdez continues to hit well since his promotion from Arizona
on 8/1.

Recap:
The Cougs got out their hitting sticks pounding the Beloit to the tune of 8 runs on
6 hits. Okay maybe that's not quite "pounding" but a win is a win is a win...
Hernandez, raising his record to a perfect 3-1 went 5, giving up one run and striking
out 3, but walking 3 too. Once he gets his control, well under control, I'd think
he's be the next in line for a promotion (which perhaps won't come until next year)
He was relieved by Lysander who got his third hold and Walters.
.
Frash moved up in the batting order to the 2-hole, responded by going 2/4 with a
double, rbi and run scored. Cobb went 3/1 with a run scored and 1 rbi, Dowling at
1 hit in 2AB with a rbi.

Barham started the game and got the loss. Allowing 5 runs, 4 earned in 3IP with
2 K's and 2 BB's and one homerun allowed. He was relieved by Garcia and Hornbeck.
No Vancouver pitcher left the game unscathed as the Canadians dropped another one
8-3 to Spokane.
.
Another homerless game, I beginning to wonder if maybe the box for the Canadians
doesn't have some type of glitch, because there's always zeros in that column.
Anyway, Barfield had one hit in 4 AB's and Christian had a double and run in 3 AB's.
.
Vancouver only committed 2 errors, so at least that's an improvement.

Recap:

Mazzaro made his debut and pitched better than his line would indicate.
Perhaps showing his nerves he led the game off with hitting the first
batter he faced. He gave up a single then walked the next batter. Then
struck out the next 3 batters. Had a 1-2-3 second inning. In the third
the lead off batter reached base on a Mazzaro throwing error. During the
next ab he steals seconds and the batter walks. Next batter hits an RBI
single. Mazzaro bounces back nicely by getting a FO, KS and another fly
out to end the innings. He had a 1-2-3 4th. And only allowed a single in
the 6th. The 6th is where he came undone. The leadoff batter doubles to
start the inning. Next batter hits an rbi single. Next batter sacrifices
the runner to second. Next batter reaches on a walk. Next batter singles,
scoring one runner as the next advances to third. Next batter has a sacfly
to right, runner advances to third. Kilby replaces Mazzaro who gets the final
out. Overall you have to be pleased with Mazzaro's outing, especially
considering how young he is. He ended up throwing 101 pitching, 67 strikes.
I'm sure now that his debut is out of the way, he'll pick up right were he
left off in AA. Marshall relieved Kilby and threw a one scoreless inning
with 1 K and 2 BB. Prinz allowed one earned run, no allowing a hit, but
walking 3 as Memphsis beat the Rivercats 7-1.
.
The Cats didn't score until the 9th on a sacfly by Conrad.

Recap:
Moore who has pitched in Midland, Kane County and now Stockton started the game.
He gave up 3 runs all in the second, where he certainly didn't help his cause.
The inning started with a single to left. The next batter is called out on strikes.
Next batter singles to left. Moore then throws a WP and both runners move up 90
feet. After the WP the batter singles and runner on 3rd scores, runner on second
advances to 3rd. Moore throws another WP, runner on 3rd scores, runner on second
advances. A double scores the running on 3rd and that's how the Nuts scored their
first 3 runs. They wouldn't score until the 9th where the Nuts once again helped
by the Ports. Heuser walks the lead off hitter, the runner advances on a failed PO
attempt, and by that time was there any doubt he'd end up scoring the winning run?
Nope, I guess that's just baseball as the Ports fell 4-3 to Modesto.
.
Carter hit his 30th homerun... man if he can ever get his glove work straigtened out
he could be the answer to the A's 3rd base woes. But until that happens, he'll be in
line for the DH spot. Spencer hit his 6th since coming over in the Blanton trade.
Donaldson hit a triple! Cardenas was promoted to Midland.

Capra was the hard-luck loser as the Cougs lost 5-1 to Beloit. He went 6
innings and allowed 2 runs, while K'ing 4 and walking 2. He was relieved by
Hodsdon and Kerfoot. Looks like Hodsdon maybe have been demoted to the bullpen.
He threw 2 scoreless innings. Kerfoot had his first real struggle, facing
8 batters and surrendering 3 runs, 2 earned and 4 hits and a homer in 1 IP.
.
Richard continues to hit well, but his fielding is what I'd imagine is holding
him back from a promotion to Stockton. Hollingsworth scored the only run. Cobb
and Dowling each had one hit.
.
Cobb committed his 14th error of the season.

allowing 2 earned runs on 3 hits in 1 IP. Guzman had an
outing I'm sure he'd rather forget, givning up 5 runs, 3
earned on 4 hits in 1 IP as they lost 9-3 to Everett.
.
Another game, another homerless drought. Barfield went 2/4
with a double. Christian went 4/1 continues to be the only
other player beside Luis with a BA over .300.

hits, but only 2 runs, with 3 strikes and no balls over 5 IP. Shafter
threw 1.2 scoreless innings. Wing allowed 2 hits and one earned with 2
K's and 2 BB over 1 inning. Gray pitched 1.1 scoreless innings as
the Rivercats crushed Memphsis 11-3.
.
The Rivercats swung some lumber as Patterson, Knoedler, Conrad and Murton all
homered. Murphy, Murton and Conrad also all hits triples and Bankston hit a
double. Over all the Cats had 16 hits and worked 3 walks.
.
An update on the Buck situation. The beat writer for the SacBee said he was
DL'd due to issues related to his concession. Slusser had since written that
he has been DL'd due to an inner ear problem. No word if the two problems are
related or if the A's are just pumping out different information to different
beat writers.
